Pannar has started its activities in Sudan back in 1996 by signing an agreement with the Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC) to test and screen its material ranging from ; grain sorghum, forage sorghum, maize , sunflower , and wheat, and hence to identify the most suitable seed for Sudan conditions .
During this period of time and through the joint collaboration with the ARC , Pannar has managed to release and register different hybrid seed of maize, sunflower, forage sorghum, and grain sorghum in Sudan.
The released hybrids are widely accepted among farmers ;both under rain-fed sectors as well as under irrigated sectors .
This joint collaboration between Pannar and the ARC is an ongoing program by which Pannar is still supplying the ARC with new material for purpose of testing this material and have it registered and released in Sudan with the aim to keep supply Sudanese farmers with improved , superior, and high quality seed .
Now Pannar has been acquired by Dow/DuPont /Pioneer resulting in creating a huge Research and Development (R&D) platform which will enable Pannar to further its lead in Africa and other regions .
